    I just completed a content audit for myself. I went back through content that goes back over 8 years and I'm glad I include dates because it reflects that my own thinking has evolved in that time. Even though my content is all evergreen in my business, the current content is still my most up-to-date ideas.

    Like everyone else in these comments; Great vlog except for the date advice. I think this is mainly annoying for us techies (developers, engineers, analysts) we need to know which software the article is about. There is no point in reading an article about a feature that is no longer available or provided in the way the article states. The date and version of the article may be important on some subjects.

I'm in the process of creating a new website to replace my other one so I haven't checked out the blog capabilities yet. Wondering if I can add dates on blogs only where they're relevant or time sensitive and not where they're not? I've stopped watching youtube shorts because of no dates.

    Removing the date, SHOULD BE illegal! That is one of the most scammy actions a web creator can do! Is right there with click-bait titles like "I tried this method and you wouldn't believe what happen..." and stuff like that. That tip, just made me weary of believing anything else in your video. BAD BAD ADVICE!!! Make a better world, not a worse one. If I can I would encourage legislation to enforce (to force and enforce) real dates on websites!

    There's no point in having a date by an article unless it IS date sensitive. Otherwise it will give the incorrect message to those who read the date and think, "oh, it's out of date, I'll move on", so missing any golden nuggets that they could have gained from actually reading it.

    Great list. The one things I would disagree with is PDFs - yes if they are a lazy form of putting content on a website (oh let's just upload a PDF of our company brochure) BUT if they are a handy summary of key points from a page for someone to download and keep - especially if that PDF is branded and has clickable links back to your website and to other related articles. I am sure we all devour a lot of information online and often cannot remember where we saw something useful. Yes I use bookmarks and copy links into my notes, but a PDF in a folder on your desktop is also very useful for the type of person who organises in that way. 🙂

    There's definitely some good tips in here. Thanks for the video! #1 was cracking me up! So many of my clients have sites making that mistake before I get my hands on them. However, I have to say I also agree with a lot of the other commenters: posts without dates just aren't credible and specific navigation buttons only work for some businesses not all. In fact, I would argue that the public is already trained to understand generic navigation and adding more words could result in a poorer user experience.

    Not sure if you can help me or not. I am 72 and make different types of crafts. People has said I should make a website seeing how my FB is not selling my products as well as in the past. I went to GoDaddy and registered for a Domain name. Now I need to find a web site to sell my crafts on that doesn't cost a lot (maybe for a year as a trial), is easy to set up, and use, since I am not tech savy.
